Abstract

The current Liberalism has been misled with neoliberalism. This is a term that suffers from any content per se and philosophical, political or social support. While it is meaningless, the truth is that it is used in the popular sphere to try to discredit all measures that are marked as non-social (social benefit that are not necessarily achieved by Socialism). This work means a revision of the philosophical bibliography of the original concept of Liberalism (based on the current of the Enlightenment). Therefore, the essential fundamentals that define the true nature of the movement are included. In parallel, current implications of the concepts found are analyzed from the social point of view and justified based on their psychological processes. It is concluded that the enlightened ideals need to be recovered and there is a necessity for current political parties that truly implement the liberal principles in today's society.
