The constitutionalist women of Abya Yala and the new latin american constitutionalism

The New Latin American Constitutionalism emerged within the context of the region's redemocratization processes and amid a discussion about neoconstitutionalism. Therefore, the objective of this article is to present some aspects of the academic work of some constitutionalists, based on the following question: is it possible to defend the novelty of the New Latin American Constitutionalism in terms of the theoretical work being developed by the Critical Constitutionalism Network (RedCCAL) and the Network of Latin American Constitutionalist Women? Thus, this article first presents a brief history of RedCCAL and the Network of Latin American Constitutionalist Women, considering the close relationship established between these two collectives of Latin American constitutionalists. It then addresses some aspects of the New Latin American Constitutionalism, from the political and research agenda developed by the constitutionalists who are members of both networks discussed in this article, followed by concluding remarks. This article is written using a bibliographic review and historical-legal methods. It presents the findings that the constitutionalists who are members of both networks contribute not only to a new academic but also to a new political practice regarding the New Latin American Constitutionalism and strengthen the importance of Black women's representation within the New Latin American Constitutionalism.
