Abstract

Automation and artificial intelligence (AI) are redefining the labor market, eliminating formal jobs and driving labor precarization. Objective: This study analyzes the impact of these transformations, particularly the rise of microwork within the gig economy, a model characterized by task fragmentation, the absence of employment contracts, and low wages. Sectors such as customer service, transportation, manufacturing, journalism, and legal services are among the most affected. Method: This is a theoretical and bibliographical research. Results: The study identifies regulatory gaps and proposes the adoption of labor laws ensuring workers' rights, such as portable benefits and the strengthening of collective worker organization. Contributions: The article shows that, without the necessary regulation, automation and the digital economy can intensify inequalities, consolidating a model of informality and hyperexploitation.
