EDITORIAL INNOVATION AND INSTITUTIONALIZATION AT UERJ

We continue to face the turbulences that seriously affect Brazil, the State of Rio de Janeiro and, in particular, our Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (University of the State of Rio de Janeiro), nowadays.
It has not been easy. It is not easy. We know that there are no facilities on the near horizon, and perhaps, or probably, not even on the far one.
We, at DEMETRA, are convinced that the continuous work corresponds to an important pillar of institutional support.
Even in the face of all the restrictions we are undergoing, we move on.
More than that, we are moving forward with the innovations that characterize our editorial policy of valuing interdisciplinarity, especially the interlocution with the field of Human and Social Sciences. Thus, in this year of 2017, we also announce the call for articles focused on critical approaches to teaching, science and health. The correctness of this path can be evaluated through the great volume of original articles submitted, indicating the institution of this social space of dialogue between the field of Food and Nutrition and that of the Humanities as a legitimate academic place to think about the food and the symbols it carries in the mediation of relations in society.
Through these editorial paths and relying on the dedicated work of the team, which transforms these ideas and ideals into text pages, we continue to think that the institutions of UERJ, and all other public institutions of teaching, research and extension, are also built through these efforts.
