This article is part of an ethnographic study in progress at Quilombo Saracura, located in the lowlands-area (várzea) of the municipality of Santarém in the state of Pará, Brazil. Its aim is to analyze the administrative process for the issuance of land entitlements to Quilombola communities in the lowlands-ecosystem, with a focus on the locus of its field research in Saracura. Some well-established research techniques were applied in this study, such as participant observation, the use of forms and in-depth interviews. The study is based on the following analytical categories: ethnicity, territoriality, and Quilombola territoriality and land entitlements in lowland regions. Its result is a holistic analysis of land entitlements in Quilombola territories in the lowlands-ecosystem, which may contribute to an increased understanding of the complexities involved in the issuance of lowland-entitlements.
