Inserted in the field of Applied Linguistics, anchored in dialogic studies of language and Critical Pedagogy, this research results in a proposal for a flexible educational practice for the teaching-learning process of the Portuguese Language curriculum component in Basic Education. It is a proposal for educational practice with the song Tambor do Norte by Dona Onete, whose approach associates the characteristics of the song, understood as a multisemiotic genre from the artistic-cultural sphere, with language teaching and learning. Following the Freirean path of defending educational practice as liberating and substantially hopeful, the suggested proposal is aimed for the dialogue and the exchange of knowledge between teachers and students in order to bring diverse knowledge, especially the understanding of regional identity and culture. The song presents the union of indigenous and black cultures and the peculiar sound of one of the cultural manifestations of northern Brazil, the carimbó. As a methodological resource guiding the educational practice, was adopted the Tetragram of multi-semiotic analysis of the song proposed by the Song Study Group (GECAN/NELA/UFSC) was adopted.
