This article aims to analyze the scientific production on the concept of the right to the city in Brazil, based on a systematic literature review, identifying the main theoretical approaches, legal frameworks, and challenges highlighted in the selected studies. Using the PRISMA methodology and examining 26 scientific articles selected from analysis criteria, the study investigates the historical evolution of this concept and the challenges faced in its realization. Despite the incorporation of the right to the city in the City Statute, gaps in the implementation and application of legislation have been identified, reflecting the complexity of the relationships between the government, civil society, and the real estate market. The analysis of the articles highlights the need for a multidisciplinary approach to promote more inclusive and sustainable policies in Brazilian cities, emphasizing the importance of effective public policies and active participation of civil society in promoting fairer and more democratic cities.
