Abstract

The research aims to analyze the proposal of smart cities with an approach based on children's rights. Smart Cities have been associated with the interaction of urban environments with the use of Information and Communication Technologies to improve urban governance and improve the quality of life of citizens. Through qualitative research, based on a bibliographical and documental technique, the article has as a research question: what are the children's rights to be protected in the context of Smart Cities, considering the interaction of urban environments with the use of Technologies of Information and Communication? The research results indicate that the right to the city must be guaranteed; right of participation; data protection; free development of personality; right to security and privacy. In addition to the rights related to urban physical space, the use of Information and Communication Technologies must observe the respect for children's rights by the public and private sector, especially with regard to information security and collection of personal data. It's not enough to be good and inclusive for children, Smart Cities must also be cyber-safe.
