Roger Chartier, Ph.D. by École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud (France), is an influential historian, researcher at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and honorary professor at the Collège de France. He has research in the field of the history of culture and books, the trajectory of reading and writing as social practices. Of particular note are his studies on the History of Book and Reading in Europe. He also has a vast production published, including Lecture et lecteurs dans la France de l'Ancien Régime (1987), Les origines culturelles de la Révolution Française (1990), Escribir las prácticas. Foucault, De Certeau, Marin (1996), Écrire et effacer: culture écrite et littérature (2003), among others, and co-directed Histoire de l'édition française (1983-1986) and Histoire de la lecture dans le monde occidental (1997) .
