In this paper it is analyzed the academic productions in linguistic studies defended from 2018 to 2022 in the context of the stricto sensu Academic Master’s Course in Letters (PPGLetras), campus of Sinop-MT, affiliated to the Group of Studies and Research in Applied Linguistics and Sociolinguistics, totaling forty dissertations. The objective is to historicize the academic legacy provided by research in the first five years of the program’s existence from an overview guided by the following analytical categories: title, research objective(s), theoretical-methodological bias, as well as results achieved in the studies in each subarea. The analysis also aims to point out possible gaps and themes for future research. This is a documental qualitative research with an interpretive focus. The results indicate that the legacy of linguistic studies has produced significant contributions and changes in the basic education scenario, as well as in the learning path, personal and professional training and identity constitution of language teachers. It is concluded that research in the line of Linguistic Studies of PPGLetras fulfills its social and educational commitment and, at the same time, has a considerable reach of the cities that are located in the peripheral regions of the Mato Grosso Amazon context.
