Resumo
Nosso objetivo neste texto é propor uma reflexão acerca da relevância do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) no cenário público brasileiro, considerando os impactos crescentes da atuação dessa corte na regulação da vida social, econômica e política do país. Para isso, nos baseamos em uma amostra de estudos acadêmicos sobre o Supremo, em uma amostra da cobertura midiática do tribunal e na análise do seu processo decisório em um caso específico que é Reforma do Judiciário, a partir dos questionamentos de dispositivos da Emenda Constitucional no. 45/2004. Concluímos apontando a centralidade do Supremo no funcionamento da política brasileira, devido tanto as suas decisões quanto “não-decisões”.

Abstract
Our goal in this paper is to propose a reflection on the relevance of the Supreme Court (STF) in the Brazilian public scenario, considering the growing impacts of the court performance in the regulation of social, economic and political life of the country. We rely on a sample of academic studies on the Supreme Court, in a sample of the media coverage of the court and in the analysis of its decision-making process in a particular case which is the Reform of the Judiciary, from the questioning of aspects of the Constitutional Amendment 45/2004. We conclude pointing to the centrality of the Supreme Court to the functioning of the Brazilian politics, because both its decisions and "non-decisions".
