Objetivo: avaliar o conhecimento, as práticas e crenças dos trabalhadores do sexo masculino acerca de sua saúde. Método: estudo descritivo, quantiqualitativo, realizado numa Faculdade de Enfermagem do Rio de Janeiro com 30 homens - alunos e profissionais, docentes e administrativo), submetidos à entrevista semiestruturadas, em outubro de 2013. Resultados: os depoimentos analisados levaram a construção de duas categorias: A Política Pública de Atenção Integral a Saúde do Homem apresentada como ferramenta primordial na promoção da saúde e prevenção de doenças; e a disseminação dessa política, alertando sobre riscos e doenças. Evidenciou-se que os homens ainda assumem o papel de provedor da família e optam por não faltar ao trabalho, mediante uma consulta e possuem desconhecimento da Política Pública de Atenção Integral à Saúde do Homem. Conclusão: é fundamental rever as estratégias motivacionais, visando sensibilizar os homens para as questões de gênero relativas ao autocuidado.
ABSTRACT
Objective: to assess male workers’ health-related knowledge, practices and beliefs. Methods: In this quanti-qualitative, descriptive study at a nursing school in Rio de Janeiro, 30 male students, teachers and administrative staff gave semi-structured interviews in October 2013. Results: transcript analysis led to the construction of two categories: comprehensive men’s health care policy presented as a prime tool for health promotion and disease prevention; and spread of this policy, alerting to risks and diseases. It was shown that men still assume the role of provider, and choose not to miss work through a query and are unaware of the comprehensive men’s health care policy. Conclusion: it is essential to review motivational strategies to sensitize men to self-care-related gender issues.
RESUMEN
Objetivo: evaluar los conocimientos, las prácticas y las creencias de los trabajadores del sexo masculino acerca de su salud. Método: estudio descriptivo, cuantitativo y cualitativo, celebrado en una Escuela de Enfermería de Río de Janeiro junto a 30 hombres - estudiantes y profesionales (profesores y administrativos), sometidos a entrevista semiestructurada en octubre de 2013. Resultados: las declaraciones analizadas llevaron a la construcción de dos categorías: Las Políticas Públicas de Atención Integral a la Salud del Hombre presentada como principal herramienta en la promoción de la salud y prevención de enfermedades; y la difusión de esta Política, advirtiendo sobre los riesgos y las enfermedades. Era evidente que los hombres todavía asumen el papel de proveedor de la familia y optan por no faltar al trabajo, a través de una consulta y desconocen las Políticas Públicas de Atención Integral a la Salud del Hombre. Conclusión: es indispensable revisar las estrategias de motivación, con vistas a sensibilizar a los hombres en cuanto a las cuestiones de género relacionadas con el autocuidado.
