Entre sofrimento e prazer: a vulnerabilidade para enfermeiros nas relações interpessoais com pacientes com HIV/AIDS [Between suffering and pleasure: vulnerability to nurses in their interpersonal relationships with HIV/AIDS patients]

Este estudo teve por objetivo analisar as representações sociais elaboradas por enfermeiros acerca de sua vulnerabilidade nas relações interpessoais mantidas com pacientes que vivem com HIV/AIDS. Neste estudo qualitativo e exploratório, adotou-se a teoria e método das Representações Sociais em sua abordagem processual. Participaram do estudo, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, 30 enfermeiros de um hospital municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, no ano de 2009. As entrevistas foram submetidas à análise de conteúdo temática instrumentalizada pelo software NVivo 9. A vulnerabilidade dos enfermeiros, expressa no medo, na desvalorização profissional e no sofrimento pelos pacientes, contribui para a configuração do empoderamento que foi verbalizado na satisfação pessoal com a atividade exercida, na obtenção de confiança por parte dos pacientes e no tempo de experiência profissional com pessoas soropositivas. Conclui-se que as relações interpessoais entre enfermeiros e pacientes são afetadas positivamente ou negativamente por episódios oriundos da expressão de vulnerabilidades.
ABSTRACT
This study aimed to analyze the social representations developed by nurses on their vulnerability contextualized in interpersonal relations kept with patients who live with HIV/AIDS. This is a qualitative and exploratory research based on the theoretical and methodological reference from the Social Representations. Thirty nurses from a public hospital of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil participated in the study, performed in 2009. It was used the semi-structured interview. With regard to the data analysis, the thematic content analysis performed through the software NVivo 9, was adopted. Nurse’s vulnerability that was verbalized in fear, underestimation and in suffering for the patient’s suffering, contributes to empowerment configuration, that was expressed in terms like personal satisfaction with the nurse’s activity, the patient’s trust and time of experience caring for seropositive people. It was concluded that interpersonal relations between nurses and patients are positively or negatively affected by specific situations caused by vulnerabilities expressions.
RESUMEN
El objetivo de este estudio fue analisar las representaciones sociales de los enfermeros acerca de su vulnerabilidad en el contexto de las relaciones interpersonales con pacientes con VIH/SIDA. Este estudio cualitativo y exploratorio adoptó la teoría y el método de las Representaciones Sociales. Participaron, por medio de entrevista semiestructurada, 30 enfermeros de un hospital en Río de Janeiro, Brasil, en 2009. Las entrevistas fueron sometidas al análisis de contenido temático a través del software NVivo 9. La vulnerabilidad de los enfermeiros, expresada en el miedo, en la desvalorización profesional y en el sufrimiento por los pacientes, contribuye para la configuración del empoderamiento que fue verbalizado en la satisfacción personal con el trabajo, en la confianza dedicada por los pacientes y en el tiempo de experiencia profesional en cuidado de personas seropositivas. Se concluye que las relaciones interpersonales entre enfermeros y pacientes son afectadas por la expresión de las vulnerabilidades.
