Adaptação psicossocial de idosos em tratamento hemodialítico: uma análise à luz do Modelo de Roy [Psychosocial adaptation of older adults in hemodialysis treatment: an analysis in the light of Roy’s Model]

Objetivo: analisar, à luz do Modelo de Roy, a adaptação psicossocial de idosos frente ao tratamento hemodialítico. Método: pesquisa descritiva e abordagem qualitativa; amostra foi composta por 15 idosos que realizavam tratamento hemodialítico, em um hospital do município de João Pessoa-PB, em 2012. Foram utilizadas a entrevista e a técnica de análise de conteúdo, tendo como eixo norteador o Modo Psicossocial de Roy. Resultados: verificou-se que os idosos apresentaram comportamentos psicossociais ineficazes. No modo de autoconceito, self-físico, demonstraram percepção negativa de sua imagem corporal e tristeza. Com relação ao self pessoal, alguns evidenciaram enfrentamento eficaz da doença. No modo função na vida real e interdependência, demonstraram comportamentos negativos evidenciados por mudança no modo de vida. Conclusão: os idosos em tratamento hemodialítico apresentam dificuldades de adaptação à doença e à terapêutica.
ABSTRACT
Objective: in the light of Roy’s model, to examine psychosocial adaptation of older adults undergoing hemodialysis treatment. Method: in this qualitative, descriptive study with a sample of 15 older adults undergoing hemodialysis treatment at a hospital in João Pessoa, Paraíba, the thematic analysis technique was used on the guiding principle of Roy’s psychosocial model. Results: the older adults were found to display ineffective psychosocial behavior. In the subcategory physical self, the self-concept mode, they demonstrated negative perception of body image, and sadness. With respect to personal self, some showed effective coping with the disease. In the real-life function and interdependence mode, they displayed negative behaviors evidenced by lifestyle changes. Conclusion: the older adults undergoing hemodialysis treatment encountered difficulties adapting to the illness and to the therapy.
RESUMEN
Objetivo: analizar, a la luz del modelo de Roy, la adaptación psicosocial de ancianos ante el tratamiento de hemodiálisis. Método: investigación descriptiva y enfoque cualitativo; muestra compuesta por 15 ancianos que realizaban tratamiento de hemodiálisis en un hospital de la ciudad de João Pessoa-PB, en 2012. Fueron utilizadas la entrevista y la técnica de análisis de contenido, teniendo como eje rector el Modo Psicosocial de Roy. Resultados: Se encontró que los ancianos presentaban comportamientos psicosociales ineficaces. En el modo de autoconcepto, self físico, mostraron percepción negativa de su imagen corporal y tristeza. Con respecto a self personal, algunos mostraron enfrentamiento eficaz de la enfermedad. En el modo de función en la vida real e interdependencia, demostraron comportamientos negativos evidenciados por cambio en el estilo de vida. Conclusión: los ancianos en tratamiento de hemodiálisis presentan dificultades para adaptarse a la enfermedad y a la terapia.
