Atitudes de enfermeiros em relação à pessoa idosa hospitalizada [Nurses’ attitudes to hospitalized older adults] [Actitudes de enfermeras en relación con ancianos hospitalizados]

Objetvo: avaliar evidências cientfcas recentes sobre as attudes dos enfermeiros em relação à pessoa idosa hospitalizada. Método: revisão integratva da literatura orientada pela questão: As attudes que os enfermeiros têm em relação à pessoa idosa hospitalizada refetem-se nas estratégias terapêutcas utlizadas na promoção dos autocuidados? Pesquisados artgos publicados entre 2000 e 2013 em bases dados on-line da EBSCO, totalizando 14 artgos selecionados. Utlizámos os descritores: pessoas idosas, attudes, enfer- magem, hospitalização, seguindo critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Resultados: attudes dos enfermeiros são inconsistentes. Attudes negatvas condicionam a promoção da autonomia, e associam-se ao nível de conhecimentos, à idade e ao gênero. Preferências para trabalhar com pessoas idosas e conhecimentos sobre o envelhecimento relacionam-se com attudes positvas. Conclusão: há escassez de estudos com qualidade cientfca. Recomenda-se inovar pesquisas para avaliar intervenções específcas e tomar as estratégias ade- quadas. Sugerem-se novos programas de ensino de enfermagem e de modelos de cuidados sobre a pessoa idosa e envelhecimento.
ABSTRACT
Objectve: to evaluate recent scientfc evidence regarding nurses’ attudes to hospitalized older adults. Method: this integratve literature review was guided by the queston: are nurses’ attudes to hospitalized older adults refected in the therapeutc strategies used in promotng self-care? EBSCO online databases were searched for artcles published between 2000 and 2013; a total of 14 artcles were selected. The descriptors used were older patents, attudes, nursing, hospitalizaton, following inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: nurses’ attudes are inconsistent. Negatve attudes afect the promoton of autonomy and are associated with level of knowledge, age and gender. A preference for working with older people and knowledge about aging associated with positve attudes. Conclusion: there is a lack of studies with scientfc quality. It is recommended to innovate in research to evaluate specifc interven- tons and apply appropriate strategies. New nursing training programs and models of care for the elderly and aging are suggested.
RESUMEN
Objetvo: evaluar la evidencia cientfca reciente sobre las acttudes de las enfermeras en relación con los ancianos hospitalizados. Método: critca integradora de la literatura guiado por la pregunta: ¿Las acttudes que las enfermeras tenen acerca de los hospitali- zados de edad avanzada se refejan en las estrategias terapéutcas utlizadas en la promoción del autocuidado? artculos investgados publicados entre 2000 y 2013 en las bases de datos en línea EBSCO, por un total de 14 artculos seleccionados. Se utlizó el descriptores edad avanzada, las acttudes, la enfermería; hospitalización, siguiendo los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Resultados: las acttudes de las enfermeras son inconsistentes. Las acttudes negatvas afectan a la promoción de la autonomía, y se asocian con el nivel de conocimientos, edad y género. Preferencias para trabajar con las personas mayores y los conocimientos sobre el envejecimiento es- tán relacionados con acttudes positvas. Conclusión: hay pocos estudios con calidad cientfca. Se recomienda innovar investgación para evaluar las intervenciones específcas y adoptar estrategias apropiadas. Sugerir nuevos programas de formación de enfermería y modelos de atención para las personas mayores y el envejecimiento.
