E a bioética?
ABSTRACT
This study aimed at a comprehensive analysis of the nurse’s ethical and bioethical concerns in childcare and family care in hospitals. Qualitative study on the basis of Alfred Schütz’s phenomenology. Subjects enrolled were nine nurses at a university hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. The phenomenological interview was used to assess speeches with the following questions: When you take care of the child and his/her family, what ethical standards move you? How about the bioethical ones? Speech analysis brought up two categories: Child’s respect and family companion’s guidance. It underlines respect and guidance as axes of the nurses’ daily practice with hospitalized children. Ethical and bioethical concerns must be highlighted to back up critical, consistent, committed, and appropriate action with the child and his/her family insofar as human dignity goes.
