Résumé

This paper examines the intersection between Philosophy for Children (P4C) and social research, exploring how its use in sociological and empirical research on practices related to social activism highlights its dual value: enabling data collection and activating philosophical communities of inquiry (CoPIs) to reconstruct meanings around often-taken-for-granted concepts and support collective action guided by reason. This presentation will focus on the theoretical assumptions that help to define P4C as a democratic practice and democracy education. In a second moment, we will broaden our gaze towards the communitarian and social declination of the same, using the definition offered by the Center for Research on Philosophical Inquiry (CRIF) Italy and the contributions of some authors who focus on the pro-active aspect of critical and creative thinking. Finally, an overview of the CoPI meets economics workshops will be presented. “Currency and Wealth (?)”, focusing on the presentation of the pretexts used and the description of the contexts in which the sessions were held (focusing on groups of adults involved in social activism practices related to the economic field and the review of their practices and assumptions). The results and conclusions show that the value of P4C is that it activates a process of reflection on practice, making it more effective.
