Abstract

Este trabalho sintetiza traços do contexto histórico-cultural dos dois últimos fins deséculo, ou seja, o final do século XIX e o fim do milênio, comentando algumas marcaspróprias de artes geradas nessas épocas e debatendo, por fim, alguns pontos de identificação edistinções entre esses dois momentos de fronteira, a partir dos estudos de historiadores comoEduardo Lourenço, Chartier, Pesavento, Vecchi e Leenhardt. Dentro dessa perspectiva,tecemos breves comentários sobre obras de Saramago, Eça de Queirós e outros escritores, atítulo de ilustração sobre esses dois contextos artísticos.
