Based on the assumption that every discourse has an argumentative dimension (Amossy, 2018) intrinsic to communicative expression, in this work we intend to analyze the processes of identification and qualification that constitute, among others, the semiotization of the world (Charaudeau, 2008), problematizing its subjective character, favorable to the (re)construction of sociodiscursive imaginaries (Charaudeau, 2018b) related to (anti)racism. Considering, as Colomer (2017), that children's literature reflects how society sees itself, we will analyze the black representation in the illustrated short stories Fevereiro, by Carol Fernandes (2023), Minhas contas, by Luiz Antonio (2022) and De passinho em passinho: uma história para dançar e sonhar, by Otávio Júnior (2021), in order to detect the argumentative nature of the narratives, not only in terms of the themes explored in the works, but also in terms of these linguistic resources, which make it possible to imply positive evaluations in relation to the qualities of the way of being black, going against the structural racism prevalent in our society, without necessarily imposing an opinion, but provoking reflection due to the persuasive projection of the short stories.
