Abstract

Antônio José Branquinho da Fonseca, nascido da vila deMortágua, em 4 de maio de 1905, fundou, com José Régio e GasparSimões em 1927, a revista Presença. Foi convidado para organizaro departamento de bibliotecas da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.Da sua obra - Poemas (1926), Mar Coalhado (1932), Zonas (1931-32), Caminho Magnéticos (1038), O Barão (1942), Rio turvo(1945), Porta de Minerva (1947), Mar Santo (1956), Bandeira Preta(1956), além de duas peças de teatro e Contos tradicionais Portugueses(1ºvol.-1964 e 2º vol.-1966), elegemos para estudo, tendopor base a sentença in vino veritas, a novela O Barão. A nossa análise,tem por objetivo, apontar o culto dionisíaco, redimensionadopor Branquinho da Fonseca, nesta novela, como uma fenda que seabre para a busca da Verdade do Ser, Verdade esta que só se manifestaquando investimos toda a nossa energia na propulsão do vigorde nossa liberdade criadora.
