SOLETRAS, ISBN 2316-8838, is a Brazilian Journal linked to the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras e Linguística(Postgraduate Program in Literature and Linguistics) offered by the Faculdade de Formação de Professores (Teacher Eucation College) at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (State University of Rio de Janeiro). The journal aims at disseminating complete and ongoing research, and theoretical reviews relevant to the fields of Linguistics, Applied Linguistics and Literature. Presently, submissions are open for volume 35, to be published in 2018-1. As the invited editors turn their attention to teacher education, the issue will be entitled “Language teacher education – practices, theories, dialogues”. The editors’ aim is to gather papers dealing with the ideas comprised in the title, considering the worldwide-globalized scenery more broadly, and the Brazilian scenery in particular. Living in a moment when certainties have given room to liquidity  (Bauman,2000), and when discourses coming from various discursive formations (Foucault, 2005)convey ideas on  (linguistic) education,  on teacher education and the teacher’s social role, as well as on the role that school and its agents play in education for citizenship, the editors invite researchers that discuss and problematize issues of contemporary language teacher education that involve formative actions leading to social justice to submit their papers.
