O objetivo deste artigo é desenvolver uma análise do conto Sapatos de Verniz, da escritora caboverdiana Dina Salústio. O conto aqui escolhido faz parte da coletânea Filhos de Deus (2018). A ficção curta de Dina Salústio dá visibilidade às situações de conflito existencial da mulher caboverdiana através das relações de afeto com a nação, com as insularidades e com os trânsitos de nacionalidades. Para fundamentar as análises vamos nos ancorar nos posicionamentos críticos de Vera Duarte (2005) e Dina Salústio sobre escrita cabo-verdiana de autoria feminina, de Chimamanda Adchie (2015) sobre feminismo, de Judith Butler (2003) sobre problematização de gênero, de Michel Foucault (1979) sobre genealogia e história, de Silvana Vilodre Goellner (2015) sobre representação do corpo, de Clenora Hudson-Weems (2020) sobre mulherismo Africana e de Oyeronké Oyewumi (2021) sobre colonização de gênero. O conto em análise nos faz chegar a conclusão de que os sapatos de verniz representam o aperto na consciência humana ao ponto de questionar os afetos tão maculados pela colonização de classe e gênero, sendo o amor a única possibilidade de humanizaçãoDownloads
