Abstract

Objective: To understand the personal knowledge and practices regarding religiosity and spirituality among physicians and nursing staff involved in the care of children in end-of-life situations. Method: A qualitative, descriptive study with 30 participants, conducted between April and July 2024, through semi-structured interviews. Text analysis was lexical, using Alceste software, and descriptive statistics were applied to describe participant profiles. The study was approved by a Research Ethics Committee. Results: Most participants were women, with over 20 years of experience and postgraduate education. The majority considered themselves spiritual and believed in deities, with a predominance of Kardecists, Catholics, and Evangelicals. Gaps were identified in the understanding of the concepts of religiosity and spirituality, as well as in how these practices are reflected in daily life, such as through prayer, meditation, and contact with nature. Conclusion: Religiosity and spirituality provide comfort, support, and influence care. There is a need for training and spaces that integrate these dimensions into professional practice.
