Peer Review Process
The peer review process carried out at Revista Enfermagem UERJ has two main steps:
(1) Desk review: initial verification carried out by the Scientific Editor and by the Associate Editor responsible for the process of evaluating the article in order to verify: a) adherence to the journal’s Focus and Scope; b) adherence to specified standards for submission; c) overall quality and merit of the work, analysing the potential production of new scientific evidence and advancement in the field of knowledge
(2) Peer review: articles are aapproved by the desk review process are forwarded to two (2) reviewers, and the entire review process is carried out in the double-anonymized review format, preserving the identity of the authors and reviewers.
If there is divergence in reviewers’ opinions (in terms of the decision to approve or reject the work), the Editor responsible for the article evaluates the reviewers’ decision reports and the submitted work to arrive at the final decision. The decision (outcome of the evaluation process) can generate the following results: (i) immediate approval; (ii) revisions need to be made to the document; (iii) rejection. In case (ii) the authors must resubmit the work with the changes requested by the reviewers, together with a document justifying the changes made (or not).
