O objeto do estudo foi o conhecimento dos alunos do ensino médio sobre parada cardiorrespiratória e manobras de reanimação. Os objetivos foram avaliar o conhecimento dos alunos do nível médio sobre suporte básico de vida e discutir as possibilidades de intervenções educativas do enfermeiro. Estudo descritivo, qualitativo. Utilizou-se a entrevista semiestruturada com 40 alunos de Ensino Médio de uma instituição privada de Cabo Frio – RJ, entre setembro e novembro de 2010. Surgiram as categorias: Saber agir vinculado à ligação telefônica para o serviço de emergência; e O desconhecimento dos alunos sobre a parada cardiorrespiratória e as manobras de reanimação. Os resultados mostram que, por não apresentarem adequada informação e fundamentação das etapas da reanimação cardiopulmonar, os alunos se esquivam ou prestam atendimento incorreto às vítimas. É necessário maior conscientização profissional do enfermeiro sobre a importância da sua atuação educativa junto a esses estudantes, minimizando possíveis danos e garantindo o atendimento correto.
ABSTRACT
The object of this study was the knowledge of high school students about cardiopulmonary resuscitation and resuscitation maneuvers. The objectives of the study were to assess prior knowledge of high school students on basic life support as well as to discuss possibilities of educational interventions of nurses in this area. This is a qualitative and descriptive research. A semi-structured interview was used with 40 high school students from a privately-owned school in Cabo Frio, RJ, Brazil, from September to November, 2010. The following categories emerged: diligent phone call action to Emergency Service; and lack of basic notions on cardiac arrest and resuscitation. Results show that lack of adequate information on the steps to cardiopulmonary resuscitation accounted either for students’ evasion or for incorrect care of victims. It’s necessary to raise professional nurse awareness of the relevance of nurse’s educational activities among those students in an attempt to minimize possible damage and ensure proper care.
RESUMEN
El objeto de estudio fue el conocimiento de los estudiantes de la enseñanza media sobre parada cardiorespiratoria y maniobras de reanimación. Los objetivos fueron evaluar el conocimiento de los alumnos del nivel medio sobre soporte básico de vida y discutir las posibilidades de intervenciones educativas del enfermero. Estudio descriptivo, cualitativo. Se uso la entrevista semiestructurada con 40 alumnos de la Enseñanza Media de una institución privada de Cabo Frio-RJ-Brasil, entre septiembre y noviembre de 2010. Surgieron las categorías: saber actuar vinculado a la llamada telefónica para el servicio de emergencia; y el desconocimiento de los alumnos sobre la parada cardiorespiratoria y las maniobras de reanimación. Los resultados revelan que por no presentar adecuada información y fundamentación de las fases de reanimación cardiopulmonar, los estudiantes se esquivan o prestan atendimiento incorrecto a las víctimas. Es necesario mayor concientización profesional del enfermero sobre la importancia de su actuación educativa junto a eses alumnos, minimizando posibles daños y garantizando el atendimiento correcto.
