This article derives from a master's research in Education and seeks to mobilize the notion of the Book by Artist-Teacher (BAT), understanding it as an artistic-pedagogical proposal with undergraduate students in Visual Arts who invented and engineered their training processes. This notion is artistically and conceptually nourished by the Diaries of Pedagogical Practice (Oliveira, 2011) and artist's books (Silveira, 2001), in order to explore alternative possibilities for creation in the fields of education and art, not as one or the other, but as something that resides “between” the two, coming to life as it is experimented with. The BATs are the result of a collective effort by students from a Visual Arts course – Full Degree in Drawing and Plastic Arts at a university in Southern Brazil. Their creation forms alliances with authors of the philosophies of difference, which help to reflect on the following question: What potential does the creation of Books by Artist-Teachers have within the process of teacher education? As a methodological approach, wandering is assumed as a way to move through the territories of education and art. The images and writings presented throughout the text are results of the research completed in 2020, which aimed to view teaching as a process constantly intersected by everyday experiences and classroom practices.
