The aim of this paper is to propose some ideas on the concept of internationalization of states. We do this on the basis of, and even beyond, some contributions by Claudia von Braunmühl made in the context of the German debate on the derivation of the state. We understand that this concept is useful to account for the growing importance of the global scale in the articulation of political domination. Therefore, the growing importance of the global scale in the intervention of states within and outside their territories. This also means the growing importance of that scale in the development of national and international law and public policies. In this framework, we develop the theoretical and methodological elements that we understand are most important for studying the process of internationalization of states.
