This article presents a critical analysis of the main public policy to combat political gender-based violence in Brazil, Law no. 14192/2021. To this end, it provides a brief history of the issue on the agenda of Latin American countries, followed by an examination of the context in which this Brazilian law was approved and its possible gaps. The article also sought to situate the critical analysis of the Law based on the approaches of intersectionality and, critical criminology and the mobilization of the concept of state reengineering in the neoliberal context. The aim is to demonstrate that a look at the violent phenomenon must be inexorably intersectional and a merely penal response is insufficient and ineffective.
