Abstract
The soviet State had four distinct constitutional systems throughout its history, formulated in 1918, 1924, 1936 and 1977. This article presents a comparative analysis of the four constitutions, identifying their similarities and differences. The hypothesis presented is that there was a gradual transition from the initial idea of the dissolution of the State, present in the constitution of 1918, to the State-Party fusion present in the constitution of 1977.
