The article analyzes ethical dilemmas in the wave of destruction during protests in Peru after the political crisis of December 2022. It examines the burning of police stations, damage in the south and looting in Lima, under ethical criteria on limits of violence in civil resistance. It argues that the context of abuse explains in part the excesses, but does not ethically justify them. It advocates combining firmness in the face of violence with openness to dialogue to meet social demands.
