Call for papers - Dossier Psi Practices in spaces of deprivation and restriction of freedom

2023-12-15

The journal Estudos e Pesquisas em Psicologia, from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), classified as A2 in Qualis-CAPES (Brazil), electronic ISSN 1808-4281, opens a call for submission of papers for the Dossier Psi Practices in Spaces of deprivation and restriction of liberty. The purpose of this dossier is to bring together scientific articles that discuss the role of psychology in spaces belonging to the prison system and the juvenile justice system. The dossier aims to group theoretical-methodological immersions in the regulation of demands, impasses, challenges and possibilities of psychology as a science and profession in institutions that, in the Brazilian context, deprive and restrict the freedom of almost one million adults and almost 25,000 teenagers. The focus will be on bringing together original contributions that account for the movements that practices in these spaces produce in Psychology and vice versa. In this dossier, we will give priority to manuscripts that discuss field research, as well as experience reports, as long as they have significant analytical density. Manuscripts that are considered relevant by the dossier's editorial team will be sent to two anonymous external reviewers, in the peer review system.

The Dossier will be published in volume 24, expected to be published in December 2024, containing from 15 to 23 papers. The structure/formatting of the text must follow the standards of the 7th edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) Manual and other Guidelines for Authors described at https://www.e-publicacoes.uerj.br/revispsi/about/submissions . Submission must be made by April 15, 2024 to the Dossier Psi Practices Section.

Estudos e Pesquisas em Psicologia publishes texts in Portuguese, Spanish and English. If the authors choose to publish in English or Spanish, when submitting online, the manuscript must be sent in Portuguese, except in the case of full foreign authorship, native to English or Spanish-speaking countries. After editorial processing, if the manuscript is accepted, the authors must confirm in which language they wish to publish, and will be responsible for the costs of translating it into English or Spanish, using exclusively opportunely suggested translators by the journal Estudos e Pesquisas em Psicologia. In the event that it is written in a foreign language by a native author in English or Spanish, the text must be submitted to one of the reviewers indicated by the magazine for review purposes. Under no circumstances will translations or revisions made by other translators be accepted. Important: the journal only publishes one manuscript per year, both for author and co-author. Therefore, submissions will not be accepted from authors who have published a paper in Estudos e Pesquisas em Psicologia in 2023, who have manuscripts under evaluation or who have a paper accepted and awaiting publication in the journal. It is also not permitted for an author or co-author to submit more than one manuscript to the Dossier.

We invite all researchers working in the field of institutions of deprivation and restriction of freedom in conjunction with psychology to send articles to this issue.

We count on your participation.
