Technopolitics of control and combat in the neoliberal city: war and insurrection in the city

Today, there is a transition from a disciplinary society to a control centered on the management of bodies, which raises questions, based on Antonio Negri's historical materialism, about how control mechanisms operate in the era of the “Empire,” especially considering the city as a space of conflict between antagonistic subjectivities. The aim is to identify how control manifests itself through cybernetic-digital technologies, based on deductive (approach) and structuralist (procedure) methods and bibliographic research (technique). Initially, we seek to understand the construction of cities in the structuring of Western culture, highlighting this relationship with the idea of control, especially through cybernetic-digital devices and technologies. In addition, we intend to analyze how the relationship between the city and such devices results in a specific form of control in the era of the “Empire.” In this logic, it was observed that, while control operates in the context of the city through cybernetic-algorithmic governmentality, insurrections aimed at rejecting the status quo also manifest themselves. The main result of the research is the finding that the metropolis functions both as a product of forms of control and as a means for their reproduction, being conceived, perceived, and experienced as a space of symbolic and political dispute.
