cinema and the production of insurgent subjectivities

Abstract

This article presents a research report on the impact of collective practices on the production of subjectivities through the constitution and/or affirmation of identity statements in individuals involved in the film clubs Mate com Angu, Buraco do Getúlio, and Facção Feminista, located in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro. The research, which takes a qualitative approach, draws on the combination of notions of culture, discourse, and power, using the cartographic method to conduct biographical interviews as a data collection tool. From the production and analysis of the interviews, three main categories were mapped, on which content analyses were conducted: territory, education, and intersectionality. It was found that bodies marked by violence stemming from prejudice based on color/race, gender, social class, or territory can expand and create fields of existence through the subjectivation of collective experiences in the cultural field. It was observed that the film clubs operate as strategies that seek to thwart oppressive relations, providing for the constitution and reaffirmation of identity discourses, whether related to social experiences of gender, race/color, and/or class or to territory itself, in individuals who participate in film club collectives in Baixada Fluminense.
