The presence of technologies and telecommunications has brought new dynamics to the way we communicate, inform and, above all, learn. Based on new languages, means of communication and new methodologies, the role of the teacher focuses not only on the teacher-student relationship, but, above all, on the relationship between teacher-knowledge-student, in which the teacher is not more seen only as a transmitter of knowledge, but possessing an attitude and behavior of a “mediator”, a facilitator, encourager or motivator of learning, who actively helps the learner reach their goals. In this context, the objective of this study is to present and discuss how new methodologies and resources, based on Assistive Technology (AT), can contribute to improving learning, involving teachers and students. To support this study, exploratory bibliographical research was used as a methodological resource with the purpose of contributing to a reflective analysis on the topic. Based on the research carried out, it was possible to realize that the resources and services characterized as AT, used by teachers, offer several pedagogical strategies that can optimize their practices, as mediators of the process and that are often essential to facilitate, or even to overcome physical and attitudinal barriers that can hinder schooling, curricular adaptations and student development. However, in relation to training processes, they still require innovations and new dynamics of use and this has been one of the major concerns for the development of inclusive practice.
