O texto aqui apresentado se coloca como um dos frutos da pesquisa acadêmica realizada na Universidade Federal do Tocantins – UFT através do projeto de extensão intitulado “Reflexões sobre a estética indígena para o campo da Arte-Educação”. Tal projeto ocorreu entre os anos de 2012 e 2013 no campus de Tocantinópolis, no curso de Pedagogia e envolveu, basicamente, estudantes de tal curso. O projeto buscou relacionar a estética indígena e sua possível utilização nas aulas escolares da região, incentivando futuros professores a se utilizarem de tal concepção estética. Este artigo tentou dar a entender a importância da instituição escolar na valorização do contexto multicultural de seus estudantes, usando como exemplo a questão dos fazeres e saberes artísticos indígenas. Os resultados deste escrito deixam ver possibilidades de trabalho com obras de arte indígenas na escola e a necessidade de desconstrução das representações dos indígenas como pontos positivos para a valorização destes brasileiros e para o incremento de saberes dos estudantes escolares.
