CONCEPÇÕES DE MATEMÁTICA: DO REFERENCIAL CURRICULAR NACIONAL PARA AS ESCOLAS INDÍGENAS

No presente artigo, temos como principal objetivo identificar e descrever o entendimento do Referencial Curricular Nacional para Escolas Indígenas (RCNEI) sobre os conhecimentos e saberes matemáticos, sob a perspectiva da interculturalidade no contexto da educação escolar indígena. Do ponto de vista teórico, este trabalho apoia-se nas propostas preconizadas pelo interculturalismo, como um corpo teórico que permite o reconhecimento da existência de sistemas de saberes plurais e da etnomatemática que, na condição de programa de pesquisa, aponta como múltiplos os lugares dos quais emergem os saberes matemáticos. O RCNEI, publicado em 1998, é a fonte para as nossas análises, devido a sua importância e por abordar o tipo de matemática que se deve desenvolver nas escolas indígenas. O método utilizado é o da análise de conteúdo, e os dados coletados foram obtidos com base em sistemáticas leituras deste documento. A análise dos resultados permite perceber que a matemática tem lugar de destaque no RCNEI. Contudo, o significado apresentado não possui o sentido de promoção social e enriquecimento mútuo dos envolvidos na interação intercultural.
