Abstract

The organizers of DOSSIÊ 28 - Children's Literature: Contemporary Perspectives spoke with Associate Professor of Literature Theory at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), Prof. Dr. Sonia Monnerat Barbosa, who teaches undergraduate courses at the Institute of Letters and the Specialization in Children's Literature at the Lato Sensu Postgraduate Course in Letters at UFF. The questions cover the importance of teaching literature, the place of children's literature within literary criticism and the specificities of research work with young people's literary texts, both in primary and higher education. The interviewee interweaves memories of her formative and creative process as a reader and teacher, at the same time as providing us with a profound reflection on the teaching of literature, the importance of studying the literary text, considering editorial issues as co-creators of interpretations, the place of children's and young adult literature within literary criticism and its changes in line with questions and new socio-cultural configur
