Abstract

University extension is an inseparable component of the Brazilian public university, acting as a catalyst for social change. By taking the knowledge produced in academia beyond the institutional walls, it strengthens the university's bond with the community and consolidates its role as a space for producing and disseminating knowledge for the common good. In this way, this article discusses some links between Political Ecology and Agroecology, based on extension practices, in the training of Geography teachers. We observed that the intersections between these branches of knowledge in extension promote engagement with the problems of place and everyday life, the recognition and appreciation of knowledge from native peoples and traditional populations, as well as fostering a commitment to transformation in order to improve the social and spatial conditions of the population.
