Estudo exploratório, descritivo, quantitativo, realizado entre abril e maio de 2011. Seu objetivo foi identificar estressores entre acadêmicos de enfermagem de uma universidade pública do Rio Grande do Sul. Utilizou-se um formulário para a caracterização dos discentes e o Instrumento Avaliação de Estresse em Estudantes de Enfermagem para coleta de dados. Participaram 130 discentes com predomínio do sexo feminino (86,92%), com idade entre 20 e 24 anos (69,23%). As situações de gerenciamento do tempo representaram maior desgaste ( X = 1,93; dp = 0,56), e aquelas referentes à comunicação profissional menor desgaste ( X = 1,38; dp = 0,64). Os alunos estão com dificuldades para conciliar as atividades acadêmicas com as demandas pessoais, emocionais e sociais. A identificação dos estressores poderá contribuir para que as coordenações das instituições de ensino superior revejam metodologias de ensino e proposição de ações que visem o bem-estar acadêmico, com vistas à minimização do estresse.
ABSTRACT
Exploratory, descriptive, quantitative study conducted from April to May, 2011. It aimed at identifying stressors among nursing students at a public university in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Data collection was made on the basis of [1] a students’ profile form and [2] the Tool for the Assessment of Stress among Nursing Students. One hundred-thirty (130) students participated, 86.92% of which females, and 69.23% of which within an age range from 20-24 years old. Time management situations accounted for the highest ranks of stress ( X = 1,93; dp = 0,56), and situations related to professional communications accounted for the lowest stress ranks ( X = 1,38; dp = 0,64). Students face difficulties conciliating academic activities with personal, emotional and social demands. Identification of stressors can help course coordination of higher education institutions review teaching methodologies and agenda to attain academic well-being and minimize stress.
RESUMEN
Estudio exploratorio, descriptivo, cuantitativo, realizado entre abril y mayo de 2011. El objetivo fue identificar los factores estresantes entre estudiantes de enfermería de una universidad pública de Rio Grande do Sul-Brasil. Fue utilizado un formulario para la caracterización y el Instrumento para Evaluación de Estrés en Estudiantes de Enfermería para la recolección de datos. Participaron 130 estudiantes con predominio del sexo femenino (86,92%), edad entre 20 y 24 años (69,23%). Las situaciones de gestión del tiempo representaron mayor desgaste ( X = 1,93; dp = 0,56) y a la comunicación profesional menor desgaste ( X = 1,38; dp = 0,64). Los estudiantes están con dificultades para conciliar las actividades académicas con las demandas personales, emocionales y sociales. La identificación de los factores de estrés podrá contribuir para que las coordinaciones de instituciones puedan revisar metodologías de enseñanza y la proposición de acciones destinadas a bienestar universitario para reducir el estrés.
