Eutanásia e distanásia: percepção de médicos e enfermeiros de uma cidade sul mineira [Euthanasia and dysthanasia: doctors’ and nurses’ perceptions in a town in southern Minas Gerais]

Objetivo: compreender a percepção de médicos e enfermeiros sobre eutanásia e distanásia. Método: pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, constituída por 20 participantes, 10 médicos e 10 enfermeiras. A amostragem foi do tipo Bola de Neve. A coleta de dados foi realizada nos anos de 2012 e 2013, em dois hospitais do Sul de Minas Gerais, por meio de um roteiro de entrevistas semiestruturado, composto por duas perguntas que foram gravadas. O método utilizado para a análise dos dados foi o Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo (DSC). Resultados: observou-se que os entrevistados percebem o tema como complexo e pouco discutido no meio acadêmico. Conclusão: os limites entre a prática da distanásia e ortotanásia não são precisos no cotidiano profissional.
ABSTRACT
Objective: to understand doctors’ and nurses’ perceptions of euthanasia and dysthanasia. Method: in this exploratory, qualitative study of a snowball sample of 10 doctors and 10 nurses at two hospitals in southern Minas Gerais, data were collected in 2012 and 2013 by semi-structured interviews with two open questions. The interviews were recorded and analyzed using Collective Subject Discourse. Results: interviewees were observed to perceive the topic as complex and little discussed in academic circles. Conclusion: the boundaries between dysthanasia and orthothanasia are not precise in daily professional routine.
RESUMEN
Objetivo: entender la percepción de médicos y enfermeros sobre eutanasia y distanasia. Método: investigación de abordaje cualitativo, constituida de 20 participantes: 10 médicos y 10 enfermeras. El muestreo fue de tipo bola de nieve. La recolección de datos fue realizada en 2012 y 2013 en dos hospitales en el sur de Minas Gerais, a través de un guión de entrevistas semiestructurado, compuesto de dos preguntas que han sido grabadas. El método utilizado para el análisis de los datos fue el del Discurso del Sujeto Colectivo (DSC). Resultados: se ha observado que los entrevistados consideran al tema complejo y poco discutido entre los círculos académicos. Conclusión: los límites entre la práctica de la distanasia y ortotanasia no están precisos en el cotidiano profesional.
