Nursing process in the pedagogical projects of technical nursing courses: a documentary analysis

Objective: to analyze the presence and approach of the nursing process and its steps in the pedagogical projects of technical nursing courses offered by the Federal Institutes of Brazil. Method: documentary, qualitative study with a quantitative descriptive component, based on 23 pedagogical projects. Characterization data were organized and analyzed by descriptive statistics in Excel®. Textual analysis was conducted with the support of the IRaMuTeQ software, aligned with Bardin's content analysis. Results: courses in the Southeast region predominate, primarily offered in the in-person and subsequent modalities, with a mean workload above the required minimum. In the course syllabi, the nursing process and its steps receive limited coverage, with an emphasis on the execution of technical procedures and an absence of structural elements, such as nursing prescription, prescription verification, and theoretical frameworks, alongside a non-transversal approach to nursing records. Concluding remarks: weaknesses in the approach to the nursing process in technical education are evident, indicating the need for greater integration of its elements into pedagogical projects.
