Estudo descritivo realizado com o objetivo de analisar o perfil de frequentadores de um motel na cidade de Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, e verificar o uso de preservativos entre eles. Amostra constituída por 154 pessoas. Coleta de dados realizada por meio de um questionário em 2009. Para análise dos dados utilizou-se a estatística descritiva. De acordo com os resultados, 50,7% eram do sexo feminino, 60,5% apresentam menos de 30 anos de idade e iniciação da vida sexual precoce (média de 15,9 anos); 73,4% eram solteiros; 70,8% dos clientes consideraram remota a possibilidade de adquirir o Vírus da Imunodeficiência Humana (HIV) em suas práticas sexuais e 76,0% afirmaram não ter nenhuma dificuldade em propor o uso do preservativo ao parceiro. Sugere-se que os profissionais de saúde desenvolvam estratégias que possam garantir ao indivíduo e comunidade assistência de excelência na prevenção e controle do HIV e Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquirida.
ABSTRACT
This descriptive study aimed to analyze the profile of patrons of a motel in the city of Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, and condom use them. Samples of 154 people. Data collection conducted through a questionnaire in 2009. For data analysis, we used descriptive statistics. According to the results 50.7% were female, 60.5% have less than 30 years of age and early sexual initiation (mean 15.9 years), 73.4% were single, 70.8% of customers considered the remote possibility of acquiring the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in their sexual practices and 76.0% reported having no difficulty in proposing condom use to partner. It is suggested that health professionals develop strategies that can guarantee the individual and community support for excellence in the prevention and control of of HIV and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.
RESUMEN
Este estudio descriptivo tuvo como objetivo analizar el perfil de los clientes de un motel en la ciudad de Ipatinga, Minas Gerais-Brasil, y el uso del condón entre ellos. Muestra de 154 personas. La recogida de datos realizada mediante un cuestionario en el 2009. Para el análisis de datos, se utilizó la estadística descriptiva. Según los resultados, 50,7% eran mujeres, 60,5% tenían menos de 30 años de edad y iniciación sexual precoz (media de 15.9 años), 73,4% eran solteros, 70.8 % de los clientes consideraron remota la posibilidad de adquirir el Virus de la Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) en sus prácticas sexuales y 76,0% afirmaron no tener dificultades en proponer el uso del condón con su aparcero. Se sugiere que los profesionales sanitários desarrollen estrategias para garantizar al individuo y comunidad asistencia de excelencia en la prevención y control del VIH y el Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida.
