Atenção básica e infertilidade: conhecimento e prática de enfermeiros da estratégia saúde da família [Infertility in primary care from the perspective of nurses in the family health strategy]

Avaliar conhecimento e prática de enfermeiros com relação à infertilidade na atenção básica. Estudo quantitativo, transversal, realizado com 171 enfermeiros do Sistema Municipal de Saúde de Fortaleza-CE, Brasil. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista, de novembro/2009 a abril/2010. Para avaliar o conhecimento e a prática dos enfermeiros, foram utilizadas escalas tipo Likert. O sexo predominante foi o feminino, a idade e o tempo de atuação em planejamento familiar variaram de 25 a 53 anos e de menos de um a 23 anos, respectivamente. O nível de conhecimento de 100(58,5%) enfermeiros sobre o conceito de infertilidade foi limitado; de 169(99%) sobre tipos de infertilidade foi ausente; e 106(62%) e 65(57%) apresentaram, respectivamente, conhecimento limitado e prática ligeiramente adequada acerca das ações a serem oferecidas na atenção básica voltadas à infertilidade. Os enfermeiros necessitam de capacitações voltadas para a área de infertilidade.
ABSTRACT
To assess the knowledge and practice of nurses concerning infertility in primary care. Quantitative, cross-sectional study, carried out with 171 nurses in the Municipal Health System of Fortaleza-CE, Brazil. Data were collected through interviews, from November 2009 to April 2010. Likert scales were used to assess the knowledge and practice of nurses. The predominant sex was female, age and time of work in family planning varied from 25 to 53 years old and less than one to 23 years, respectively. The knowledge level of 100(58.5%) nurses on the concept of infertility was limited; of 169(99%) on types of infertility was absent; and 106(62%) and 65(57%) had limited knowledge and slightly appropriate practice on the actions that can be offered in primary care focused on infertility, respectively. Nurses need training targeted for the infertility.
RESUMEN
El objetivo fue evaluar conocimiento y práctica de enfermeros cuanto a la infertilidad en la atención primaria. Estudio cuantitativo, transversal, con 171 enfermeros del Sistema Municipal de Salud de Fortaleza-CE, Brasil. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de entrevistas, de noviembre/2009 a abril/2010. Para evaluar conocimiento y práctica de enfermeros, fueron utilizadas escalas de Likert. El sexo predominante fue el femenino, la edad y el tiempo de trabajo en la planificación familiar variaron desde 25 a 53 años de edad y menos de uno a 23 años, respectivamente. El nivel de conocimiento de 100(58,5%) enfermeros sobre el concepto de la infertilidad fue limitado; de 169(99%) sobre tipos de infertilidad fue ausente, y 106(62%) y 65(57%) presentaron conocimiento limitado y práctica ligeramente adecuada sobre acciones que se podrían ofrecer en la atención primaria centrada en la infertilidad, respectivamente. Los enfermeros necesitan de formación específica acerca de la infertilidad.
