O conhecimento de acompanhantes/cuidadores de vitimados por acidente vascular cerebral no contexto hospitalar [Knowledge of the companions/caregivers of victims of stroke in a hospital context]

Objetivou-se buscar o conhecimento sobre o cuidar de acompanhantes/cuidadores de pacientes hospitalizados por acidente vascular cerebral. Estudo descritivo, realizado com 14 pacientes e seus respectivos cuidadores num hospital público de Fortaleza-CE. Dados coletados de abril a maio de 2011, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada e observação simples, foram submetidos à análise estatística e temática. Os pacientes possuíam elevado grau de dependência e incapacidades graves. Os cuidadores eram mulheres e destacaram as dificuldades encontradas para o cuidado, entre elas o déficit de conhecimento. Conclui-se que os cuidadores não estão preparados para desempenhar o cuidado desses pacientes. Portanto, deve-se investir no preparo dessa clientela ainda no hospital, permeando os demais níveis de atenção à saúde.
ABSTRACT
The study aimed to seek the knowledge about care for companion/caregivers of patients hospitalized for stroke. It is characterized as descriptive, it was made with 14 patients hospitalized by stroke and their caregivers in a public hospital at Fortaleza. Data collected between April and May 2011, through simple observation and semistructured interviews were subjected to statistical analysis and thematic. The patients were a high degree of dependence and severe disabilities. The caregivers were women and they showed in their speeches the difficulties founded for the care, among them the lack of knowledge. It is concluded that caregivers are not prepared to assume their role in home care of theses patients, which should be initiated in hospital, permeating to other levels of health care, focused interdisciplinary health education.
RESUMEN
El objetivo fue buscar el conocimiento sobre el cuidado de acompañantes/cuidadores de pacientes hospitalizados por accidente vascular cerebral. Estudio descriptivo, hecho con 14 pacientes y sus cuidadores en un hospital público de Fortaleza-Ceará-Brasil. Datos recogidos entre abril y mayo de 2011, por observación simples y entrevista semiestructurada con pacientes y cuidadores, fueron sometidos al análisis estadístico y temático. Los pacientes estaban con un alto grado de dependencia y incapacidades graves. Los cuidadores eran mujeres en su totalidad y en sus discursos destacaron dificultades para realización del cuidado, entre ellas la falta de conocimientos. Se concluye que los cuidadores no están preparados para el cuidado de esos pacientes. Por lo tanto, hay que se invertir en la preparación de esos clientes aun en el hospital, permeando otros niveles de atención a la salud.
