Perfil dos acompanhantes das crianças submetidas à cirurgia: contribuições para os cuidados perioperatórios [Companions to children undergoing surgeries: contribution to perioperatory care]

Estudo descritivo com abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa, visando identificar o perfil dos acompanhantes das crianças em situação cirúrgica e analisar a opinião dos acompanhantes quanto à contribuição das orientações perioperatórias. A pesquisa ocorreu em um hospital universitário no município do Rio de Janeiro, em 2008 e 2009, com entrevista semiestruturada. Participaram do estudo 32 acompanhantes, sendo o perfil predominante: mães, faixa etária entre 20 e 40 anos, baixa escolaridade e estado civil solteiro. Foi elaborada a categoria contribuições do projeto de assistência ao acompanhante da criança no transoperatório que ressaltou a diminuição do medo e ansiedade, assim como permitiu esclarecer dúvidas pendentes em relação à cirurgia.
ABSTRACT
Descriptive work anchored on a quantitative and qualitative approach with semi structured interviews. It aims at identifying the profile of companions to children undergoing surgical procedures and at analyzing companions’ perception of perioperatory orientations received. Research developed at a teaching hospital in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, 2008-2009. Thirty-two (32) companions participated, with the following prevailing profile: mothers; ages from 20 - 40; low education, and single. Effects of the project onto the assistance to children’s companions have been assessed. Reduction of fear and anxiety levels was reported by participants as well as increase of clarification and enlightenment on perioperatory and surgical issues.
RESUMEN
Estudio descriptivo con enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo, mirando identificar el perfil de los acompañantes de los chicos en situación quirúrgica y analisar la opinión de los acompañantes en relación a la contribución de las orientaciones perioperatorias. La pesquisa ocurrió en un hospital universitário en el município de Rio de Janeiro-RJ-Brasil, entre 2008 y 2009, con una entrevista semiestructurada. Participaron del estudio 32 acompañantes, siendo el perfil predominante madres conedad entre 20 y 40 años, baja escolaridad y estado civil soltero. Fue elaborada la categoria contribuciones del proyecto de asistencia al acompañante del niño en el transoperatorio. Fue verificada la diminución del miedo y ansiedad, como también permitió esclarecer dudas pendientes en relación a la cirugía.
