Nível de ansiedade de crianças no pré-operatório: avaliação segundo a Escala de Yale modificada [Pre-operative children’s anxiety level: evaluation by the modified Yale Scale]

Objetivo: determinar o grau de ansiedade de crianças hospitalizadas de acordo com a aplicação da Escala de Ansiedade Pré-operatória de Yale modificada (EAPY-m). Método: estudo com abordagem quantitativa desenvolvido pelo método estatístico descritivo. O projeto de pesquisa foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa do Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto, sob o parecer nº 1.587.764. O estudo ocorreu entre junho e agosto de 2016, em enfermaria de cirurgia pediátrica de um hospital universitário do Rio de Janeiro, abrangendo 42 crianças, observadas pelos pesquisadores no pré-operatório. Resultados: 69,05% das crianças apresentaram-se sem ansiedade e 30,95% ansiosas; os domínios da Escala de Yale-m que atingiram mais categorias foram vocalização e interação com familiares. Conclusão: o nível de ansiedade alto foi apresentado na minoria das crianças, os domínios da Escala de Yale-m que atingiram escores mais elevados foram, vocalização e interação com familiares.
ABSTRACT
Objective: to determine the degree of anxiety in hospitalized children by applying the Modified Yale Preoperative Anxiety Scale (YPAS-m). Method: in this quantitative study using descriptive statistical analysis, 42 children on a pediatric surgery ward of a university hospital in Rio de Janeiro were observed in the preoperative period, between June and August 2016. The research project was approved by the research ethics committee of Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (opinion No. 1.587.764). Results: 69.05% of the children presented without anxiety, and 30.95% were anxious; the categories of the Yale-m Scale that displayed most items were vocalization and use of relatives. Conclusion: a minority of children presented with a level of high anxiety, and the domains of the Yale-m Scale that reached highest scores were vocalization and use of relatives.
RESUMEN
Objetivo: determinar el grado de ansiedad de niños hospitalizados de acuerdo con la aplicación de la Escala de Ansiedad Preoperatoria de Yale modificada (EAPY-m). Método: estudio con enfoque cuantitativo desarrollado por el método estadístico descriptivo. El proyecto de investigación fue aprobado por el Comité de Ética en Investigación del Hospital Universitario Pedro Ernesto, dictamen nº 1.587.764. El estudio ocurrió entre junio y agosto de 2016, en enfermería de cirugía pediátrica de un hospital universitario de Río de Janeiro, abarcando 42 niños, observados por los investigadores en el preoperatorio. Resultados: el 69,05% de los niños se presentó sin ansiedad y el 30,95% estaba ansioso, los dominios de la Escala de Yale-m que alcanzaron más categorías fueron vocalización e interacción con familiares. Conclusión: el nivel de ansiedad elevado se presentó en la minoría de los niños; los dominios de la Escala de Yale-m que alcanzaron puntajes más altos fueron, vocalización e interacción con familiares.
