Saúde dos homens: abordagem na formação de enfermeiros [Men’s health: dealing with training of nurses]

Objetivou-se analisar como a temática relacionada à saúde dos homens é abordada nos currículos dos Cursos de Graduação em Enfermagem em um município do Rio Grande do Sul – RS, Brasil. Trata-se de uma pesquisa documental, qualitativa, realizada em três Cursos de Graduação em Enfermagem, no período de setembro a novembro de 2010. Utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo temática. A partir da leitura dos currículos, emergiram cinco categorias: a saúde dos homens como uma abordagem anátomo-fisiológica; a perspectiva do gênero masculino nas técnicas de enfermagem ao adulto; a saúde do homem na infância, na adolescência e na terceira idade; homem no contexto social e familiar; e uma nova abordagem para a saúde dos homens nos cursos de enfermagem. Os resultados mostraram uma abordagem generalizada em relação a saúde dos homens e a inserção da Política Nacional de Atenção Integral à Saúde do Homem nas discussões acadêmicas da graduação em enfermagem.
ABSTRACT
This qualitative, documentary study examined how men’s health is addressed in the curricula of three undergraduate Nursing programs in a city in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, during September and November 2010. Application of thematic content analysis to the curricula highlighted five categories: an anatomical and physiological approach to men’s health; a specific approach to men needed in adult nursing techniques; men’s health in childhood, adolescence and old age; men in the social and family contexts; and a new approach to men’s health in nursing courses. The results revealed a generalized approach to men’s health and the entry of the National Comprehensive Men’s Healthcare Policy into academic discussions in undergraduate Nursing courses.
RESUMEN
Este estudio tuve como objetivo examinar la manera como la salud de los hombres es enfocada en los Cursos de Pregrado en Enfermería en un municipio de Rio Grande do Sul – RS Brasil. Se trata de un estudio documental, cualitativo, realizado en tres Cursos de Enfermería, de septiembre a noviembre de 2010. Se utilizó el análisis de contenido tematico. De la lectura del curriculum, cinco categorías surgieron: la salud de los hombres con el enfoque anatómico y fisiológico; la perspectiva del género masculino en las técnicas de enfermería para adultos; la salud del hombre en la infancia, la adolescencia y la vejez; hombre en su contexto social y familiar; y un nuevo enfoque da la salud de los hombres en los cursos de enfermería. Los resultados mostraron un abordaje general de la salud del hombre y de la inserción de la Politica Nacional de Atención Integral a la Salud de los Hombres en las discusiones académicas del Pregrado en Enfermería.
