Enfrentamento da violência conjugal no âmbito da estratégia saúde da família [Addressing domestic violence through the family health strategy]

RESUMO: Estudo descritivo e qualitativo com o objetivo de identificar elementos que contribuem para o enfrentamento da violência conjugal. Foram realizadas, em 2011, entrevistas com 14 profissionais que atuam nas unidades de saúde da família na Bahia, Brasil. Foram considerados todos os aspectos éticos. O estudo mostrou que a identificação da violência conjugal como agravo associado à demanda da mulher no serviço de saúde, a notificação dos casos suspeitos ou confirmados, a percepção por parte dos profissionais da complexidade do fenômeno e a articulação intersetorial com outras áreas de atenção são elementos que contribuem para o enfrentamento da problemática. Esses elementos poderão direcionar ações em saúde no sentido de sensibilizar, qualificar e comprometer os profissionais para o enfrentamento de questões que ameaçam a saúde pública, como a violência conjugal.
ABSTRACT: This qualitative descriptive study aimed to identify factors that contribute to addressing domestic violence. In 2011, 14 professionals working in family health facilities in Bahia, Brazil, were interviewed. All ethical considerations were addressed. The study showed that identifying harm from conjugal violence and injury in women approaching health services, reporting suspected or confirmed cases, professionals’ perceiving the complexity of the phenomenon, and intersectoral coordination with other areas of care all contribute to combating the problem. These components can inform public health efforts to raise professionals’ awareness, and train and engage them to address problems, such as domestic violence, that threaten public health
