Condutas pós-acidente ocupacional por exposição a material biológico entre profissionais de serviços de urgência [Post-accident conducts by contact with biological material among workers in emergency medical service]

RESUMO: Objetivou-se estimar a prevalência dos acidentes por exposição a material biológico, condutas e acompanhamento sorológico pós-acidente dos profissionais do atendimento pré-hospitalar de Minas Gerais. Foi um estudo transversal, realizado de dezembro de 2011 a julho de 2012. Utilizou-se questionário estruturado, análise descritiva e de prevalência. Participaram do estudo 487 profissionais, a prevalência global de profissionais acidentados por exposição a material biológico foi de 17,0%, a avaliação médica pós-acidente ocorreu em 35,5% dos casos e a notificação obrigatória do acidente para apenas 29,7%. Verificou-se que, após o acidente, foram realizados o anti-HBV para 13,2% dos casos, anti-HCV em 9,1% e o anti-HIV em 10,7% tanto da fonte como do profissional. O acompanhamento sorológico para AIDS foi realizado para 5,8% dos casos; 4,9% para Hepatite B; e 2,5% para Hepatite C. Espera-se que estes resultados estimulem a discussão sobre a importância da notificação, avaliação e acompanhamento do profissional acidentado.
ABSTRACT: This research aimed at estimating the prevalence of accidents from exposure to biological material and post-accident conducts and serological follow-up for professionals from the Emergency Medical Services in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This cross-sectional study was undertaken from October, 2011 to July, 2012. Structured questionnaire, descriptive analysis, and analysis of prevalence were used. 487 professionals participated in the study; global prevalence of professionals injured was 17.0%, post-accident medical assessment occurred in 35.5% of cases, and mandatory accident report in only 29.7% of cases. The anti-HBV was undertaken in 13.2% of cases, anti-HCV in 9.1% and anti-HIV in 10.7%, both from the department and the professionals. Serologic follow-up for AIDS was conducted for 5.8% of cases, 4.9% for Hepatitis B, and 2.5% for Hepatitis C. These results are expected to stimulate discussion on the importance of reporting, evaluation, and monitoring of the professionals injured.
RESUMEN: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo estimar la prevalencia de accidentes por exposición a material biológico, conductas y acompañamiento serológico postaccidente de los profesionales de atención prehospitalaria de Minas Gerais-Brasil. Fue un estudio transversal realizado de octubre de 2011 a julio de 2012. Se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado, análisis descriptivo y de prevalencia. Participaron 487 profesionales, la prevalencia global de trabajadores accidentados fue de 17,0%, la evaluación médica postaccidente ocurrió en 35,5% de los casos y la notificación obligatoria del accidente para sólo 29,7%. Fueron realizados anti-VHB a 13,2% de los casos; anti-VHC, en 9,1%; y anti-VIH, 10,7% en la fuente y en el profesional. Seguimiento serológico para SIDA se llevó a cabo en 5,8% de los casos; Hepatitis B, 4,9%; y Hepatitis C, 2,5%. Se espera que estes resultados estimulen la discusión sobre la importancia de la notificación, evaluación y acompañamiento del profesional accidentado.
