Características da violência exercida por adolescentes escolares [Characteristics of violence by school teenagers] [Características de la violencia por parte de estudiantes adolescentes]

Objetivo: descrever as características da violência exercida por adolescentes escolares da capital de Mato Grosso, Brasil. Método: estudo transversal, realizado em 2012, com uma amostra de 2.786 adolescentes escolares. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionário fechado e autoaplicável, processados pelo Epi-Info, e para as análises bivariadas foi considerado o valor de p<0,05. O projeto foi aprovado por Comitê de Ética em pesquisa número CAAE 01986012.9.0000.5541. Resultados: 334 adolescentes exerceram violência, em que a maioria foi do sexo masculino (59,6%), com 16 e 17 anos (57,5%) e não respondeu qual tipo de violência exerceu 99,7%. Ambos os sexos agrediram mais colegas; por mais de 2 anos; exerceram a violência na escola e esta já havia cessado para 49,5% dos adolescentes. Conclusão: as características dos adolescentes agressores sinalizam para a violência entre pares, principalmente na escola, o que requer cuidados e atenção, para combater o ciclo das situações de violência.
ABSTRACT
Objective: to describe the characteristics of violence by school teenagers of the state capital of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Methods: this cross-sectional study was conducted in 2012 with a sample of 2,786 adolescent students. Data were collected through self-administered, closed questionnaire and processed using Epi-Info; bivariate analysis considered the value p<0.05. The project was approved by the research ethics committee (CAAE 01986012.9.0000.5541). Results: of the 334 adolescents who used violence, most (59.6%) were male and 16 to 17 years old (57.5%), and 99.7% did not answer what type of violence they used. Both sexes used violence more against colleagues, for more than 2 years, used violence at school and, for 49.5% of the adolescents, the violence had now ceased. Conclusion: the characteristics of adolescent aggressors point to violence among peers, especially at school, which requires care and attention in order to combat the cycle of situations of violence.

Objetivo: describir las características de la violencia por parte de estudiantes adolescentes de la capital de Mato Grosso, Brasil. Métodos: estudio transversal, llevado a cabo en 2012, con una muestra de 2.786 estudiantes adolescentes. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de cuestionario autoaplicable cerrado, procesado por Epi-Info; en cuanto a los análisis bivariados se consideró el valor de p<0,05. El proyecto fue aprobado por el Comité de ética en investigaciones de número CAAE 01986012.9.0000.5541. Resultados: 334 adolescentes ejercieron violencia, en su mayoría eran del sexo masculino (59,6%); de 16 y 17 años (57,5%) y el 99.7 % no respondió qué clase de violencia ejerció. Ambos sexos agredieron colegas; durante más de 2 años; ejercieron la violencia en la escuela pero el 49.5% de los adolescentes la había parado en ese entonces. Conclusión: las características de los adolescentes infractores apuntan hacia la violencia entre pares, especialmente en la escuela, lo que requiere cuidado y atención para combatir el ciclo de las situaciones de violencia.
